Gears in Motion

A high-output day, a gamified to-do tracker, and the familiar warning sign that a burnout crash is two weeks out.

Actually getting stuff done today — woohoo!

I also built a project tracker that gamifies my progress — something my childhood self always wanted — you’re welcome, 11-year-old Michael.

I’ve already gotten stuff done for work AND cleaned the god damn garage.

I have to be careful on days like this cause basically I max out my to-do list and then burn myself out for 2 weeks.

Anyone out there reading this? Anyone out there with awesome tips or genuine words of encouragement?

I basically have already thought through like 3 journal entries which I’ve already forgotten, and I wrote this AFTER my day got started on purpose so that I would actually get some important stuff done — so I’m tapped out mentally.

I can talk about my progress tracker!

Basically setting up a website that allows me to create a daily to-do list and I’m awarded experience (like an RPG game, I like that stuff, fuck you) and everything I do can be tracked in perpetuity, and I have a cute little pixel character that grows as I grow. It’s like a high-stakes Tamagotchi.

Anyone have any nice Memorial Day plans? I’m taking the kids to Oxnard for a birthday party — shout out to the Smiths!

I’m off to keep working, pounding coffee, and riding my high until it turns into a soul-crushing low.

Toodles!
